Over the years, Hooria has been involved in numerous clinical and research endeavors at the following institutions:
- University of Washington - Marsha Linehan's Behavioral Research and Therapy Clinics (BRTC)
- coded Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills groups
- assisted with Dr. Linehan's graduate student's dissertation examining the psychophysiology of emotion regulation in Borderline Personality Disorder and Social Anxiety Disorder

- assisted scientists in developing a new ubiquitous technology to encourage physical fitness
- Santa Clara University
- assisted professor Shauna Shapiro, Ph.D. with research and publications in the areas of mindfulness, compassion, wisdom, and moral development
- Stanford University
- through randomized control trials (RCTs), use functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) to examine how different therapies (cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR)), genetic, and environmental factors influence the way people process and regulate emotional information

Hooria's Current CBT and MBSR Research at Stanford

Hooria is currently involved in research at Stanford University examining how different therapies and genetic and environmental factors influence the way people process and regulate emotional information and how this relates to the likelihood of future clinical disorders. Specifically using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), Hooria is conducting research on the effects of different therapies (specifically Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)) on adults with social anxiety disorder / social phobia. All studies are funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Research Project Grant Program (R01). Please see the following links for more information:
